R580- Odcdm. Succubus ‘Night Shift’ (Bare Root)

Product Details

Type: Odontocidium Hybrid – Oncidium Alliance

Description

Odcdm. Succubus ‘Night Shift’ is a striking orchid hybrid known for its dramatic, deep burgundy-red flowers and bold, broad red lips. The blooms can appear nearly black in certain lighting, creating a rich, velvety appearance. Its branching flower spikes can carry numerous blooms, making it an eye-catching addition to an orchid collection. This hybrid combines dramatic flower color with an attractive, upright growth habit.

Flower Characteristics
  • Color: Very dark crimson, burgundy, and oxblood red, with broad, brighter red lips.
  • Size: Small to medium-sized individual flowers, displayed in generous branching sprays.
  • Fragrance: Fragrance is not consistently documented.
  • Bloom Style: Numerous flowers arranged along tall, branching flower spikes.
Growth Habits
  • Growth Type: Sympodial.
  • Growth Pattern: Produces pseudobulbs with long, strap-like leaves. Mature plants can develop tall, branching flower spikes carrying many blooms.
Light Requirements

Bright, filtered or indirect light is ideal. Avoid harsh direct midday sunlight, which can scorch the leaves. Healthy foliage is generally medium green.

Watering Needs

Water thoroughly when the potting medium approaches dryness, allowing excess water to drain freely. Avoid allowing the roots to remain waterlogged or the plant to dry out completely for extended periods.

Temperature Range

Intermediate conditions are generally suitable, with daytime temperatures around 70–85°F and nighttime temperatures around 58–65°F. Provide good air circulation and avoid prolonged extreme heat.

Bloom Season

Blooming time can vary with growing conditions and the individual plant. Mature plants may produce impressive branching flower spikes when growth and environmental conditions are favorable.
